dried II fresh

a bedtime story

Ok, please don't kill me, but I thought this was so sweet, and I had to post it so I'd remember.

The Kitten Twins

There were two little kittens, with eyes of blue
one was named Twinkle, one was named Boo
They tried to be good, and do what was right
but they got into mischief from morning til night

When Grandma was knitting and dropped her yarn-ball,
they snatched it and dragged it way out in the hall
It rolled down the stairs, like a fire-ball of red
With the twins rolling after it, heels over head.

They fell to the bottom, and tumbled about
all tangled in yarn, so they couldn't get out
When Grandma unsnarled them, she scolded the kittens
for taking the yarn that was meant for her mittens.

She clapped with her hands, and told them to "scoot"
So they ran in the closet and hid in a boot.
Then Boo pressed her nose into Twinkle's small ear.
"I'm hungry," she whispered. "Let's get out of here.

"Let's go to the kitchen, and see if we're able
to crawl up on top of the white breakfast table."
In no time at all, those kittens were up
licking the milk from Grandfather's cup.

Then onto a shelf, they climbed very high.
And Boo put her paw in a blackberry pie.
She pulled it out quickly, and jumped to the sink
leaving blackberry paw-marks as purple as ink.

Her twin bounded over and gave her a push
and into the soapsuds, both kittens went swush!
They sneezed and they wheezed, these two baby cats
as they crept from the sink like little drowned rats.

They shivered and shook and ran for the door
leaving puddles of water across the clean floor.
When their fur was all fluffy and dry in the sun
the kittens were ready to have some more fun

They leaped on a bed, jumping this way and that
when up on the pillow, they spied Mother's hat!
They twisted the straw, and whirled it about
till the outside turned in, and the inside turned out.

When Mother appeared and let out a yell
the kittens fell over each other, pell-mell
They couldn't see why they had caused such alarm,
for they never intended to do any harm.

But kittens are kittens..
and what would YOU do
with two little mischiefs
like Twinkle and Boo?

The End

This was "read" to me from one of Steve's favorite children's books. So cute!

I just might get to sleep soon...
